Assistant mechanic

SIS offers a skilled workforce in various trades to carry out industrial maintenance work. We are looking for qualified candidates to perform maintenance, preventive maintenance as well as plant shutdowns on different projects across Quebec and in Northern Canada.

JOB SUMMARY

Assistant mechanics perform all tasks necessary to support industrial mechanics in their installation and maintenance work. Even if they themselves are not mechanics, they can use their technical experience and manual skills and learn the mechanic trade.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist mechanics in the installation, assembly and dismantling of machinery, such as pumps, conveyor systems, heavy machinery equipment, mechanical clutches, gear boxes and pulleys.
Perform various mechanical work in accordance with company safety procedures and applicable standards;
Carry out repairs on all types of equipment;
Handle equipment, monitor confined spaces or fire safety and all other tasks to help carry out our industrial mechanic work.

SKILLS SOUGHT

Hold a mechanic’s apprentice competency card or relevant training or experience;
Manual skills such as vehicle repair, steel trade, carpentry, etc.;
Good physical strength;
Experience in an industrial, manufacturing or production plant environment is an asset.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Short-term assignment or rotation (7/7, 14/14, 10/4), according to client demand, on different sites;
Accommodation and transportation provided or per diem offered;
